Work to Play: Flannel

Hi everyone! I’m excited to debut this new series with you. Since I don’t work in a formal office environment and I don’t report to the office everyday, I need a wardrobe that is very versatile, as do many of you. Therefore, anything that can be styled for work and for play is a win for me. You may have seen a sneak peek of one of these looks on Instagram last week.

I think flannel has a misperception of being casual, grunge, rugged, or masculine. However, flannel can also be really feminine and fun, too. My blue and white flannel is ย from J.Crew Factory and sadly sold out, but you can easily find a similar look and I’ve tagged one for you below.

Pay special attention to the fit. You might want to size down if it’s a boyfriend fit since that will be a lot looser on your body.

For work:

Flannel (similar) | Skirt | Boots | Bagย (I have the MM size)

For play:

Flannel (similar) | Jeans | Vest ย (it’s reversible!!)| Shoes

(Dog sold separately ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

Mrs | Tortoise (similar)

To keep flannel more feminine, try looking for brighter colors and flannels that include a lot of white, as opposed to dark flannels, like this one. It really helps keep your outfit looking fresh, feminine, and more polished.

In between:

Dress | Flannel | Boots

I love using a flannel during the winter in place of a traditional cardigan. It can easily transition from work to play without changing clothes, and helps keep you warm if you work in a chilly office!

Dress | Flannel | Necklace (similar and $12)

Want more inspiration? I’ve put together a Pinterest board of cute ways to style flannel!
