Master Bedroom Reveal

Remember when I shared the plans for our master bedroom makeover with you and asked for your help picking a rug? Well, the verdict is in and today I’m taking you on a tour of our new oasis. Y’all have good taste! But you can’t sleepover….

In case you’re catching up, I shared our plans here and the winning rug option was this one! Thus, a plan was born. I ordered the rug from RugsUSA the very same day, and our Tuft & Needle mattress even earlier.

But, the headboard was backordered on Amazon and it would take a few weeks to arrive. In addition to this, our mattress shipped super fast, almost too fast, because in less than 48 hours I had a king size mattress on my doorstep, while my husband was out of town, without any king size bed linens.

So, there I was with a 90 pound box, and a queen size bed to disassemble, alone, because I was not going to let that new mattress sit in the box without being put to good use! And, we didn’t have a bed frame either, so we slept on our mattress on the floor for over a week. I’ll post a full mattress review next week.

We eventually settled on a metal bed frame with risers for a few reasons. First, our dog loves to be under the bed, so we couldn’t take that away from him. Second, it continues to give us some storage. We got the frame, wooden slats and risers from Wal-Mart for the best prices around (not sponsored, it’s the truth)!

We also got this duvet from Amazon. We had the same one for our queen and love it. I know, the price makes it seem sketchy ($45), but it’s hypo-allergenic and not nearly as hot as other duvets. AND, you can wash it in your washer at home! Our bed sheets and bed skirt are from Target.

The duvet is perfectly covered by our insanely amazing Crane and Canopy bedding! (Again, not sponsored) We got the Ellis set in gray with the duvet cover and two shams. Plus, a bonus lavender sachet from Crane & Canopy that we put on our new nightstands from Urban Outfitters, which my husband is so in love with.

The three king euro shams in the back are homemade by yours truly, with the Waverly Candid Moment fabric in Ebony from Fabric.com. It took less than three yards to make three 26×26 pillows. I got the inserts at HomeGoods. Here’s a tip: as long as you can remove the covers and it’s a fluffy insert, buy your pillows at HomeGoods where they are a fraction of the price. Three pillows for $40!

Our plan also included this art, which was similar to something we already had from HomeGoods above our dresser. Nothing super special here, but I love it just the same and like how the black dresser helps to anchor the room.

And last but not least, our new rug in our “lounge” haha. At least that’s what I call it, because it’s such a great place to sit. Instead of a footboard, we have this loveseat at the foot of our bed. When we moved, we didn’t have a great place for it in our house, at least not until we put it here. It’s awesome to watch TV, read, or toss unfolded laundry (#keepingitreal). It looks SO good with our rug and helps to define the space a little bit. It’s not a huge room, but the rug makes it feel more sophisticated. It’s super soft and the colors are gorgeous. However, it doesn’t sit very flat on our carpet and does slide around so we have to reposition it about once a week.

All in all, I haven’t gotten out of bed in three weeks because I’m so in love with this room. Hope you love it too – it’s partially thanks to you! 🙂

  1. This is room turned out sooo pretty! I love the contrast of the dark dresser with the bright and light bed and the pop of color with the rug! Casual but still sophisticated looking. Great job and thanks for sharing!

  2. Your room is beautiful! I love the headboard especially. PS I use a clothes rack like that in my room too, every weekend I plan out 5 outfits and on the rack they go–makes getting ready in the a.m. so much easier!
